Equipment Rodeo 2013
Thursday, March 28, 2013 Henderson, Inc. held it’s first Equipment Rodeo. Teams of four competed in five events utilizing their skills to creatively operate the following equipment: off road dump truck, bucket loader, backhoe, excavator, and a skid steer. Congratulations to the “Ham Slams” – Tony Hamilton, Bill Gilliam, Tommy Cohick and Taylor Franks for coming in first and to Bill Gilliam and Wayne Parnell for winning our “Top Operator” award.

Heron Cove at Sanders Grand Opening
Henderson was proud to be in attendance at the grand opening of the Heron Cove at Sanders on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. The event was attended by more than 250 people, including Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, Virginia State Del. Keith Hodges, Gloucester Treasurer Tara Thomas, Gloucester Sheriff Darrel Warren and Gloucester Board of Supervisors Chairman Carter Borden.
Henderson Sponsors Annual Festival of the Trees
Henderson, Inc. was proud to be a sponsor of the R.F. Wilkinson YMCA’s 11th Annual Festival of the Trees on Saturday, December 1, 2012. The event was held at TowneBank in New Town Williamsburg. Over 150 guests enjoyed an evening of festivities that included dinner, music, and live and silent auctions.
This year approximately $50,000 was raised with proceeds benefiting the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign. This Campaign provides scholarships to families in the YMCA’s programs.
Henderson, Inc. Bowling Competition
Henderson, Inc. recently hosted a company meeting in conjunction with a bowling competition the evening of Thursday, October 11th. The event was held at The AMF Bowling Lanes in Williamsburg, Va.
HRSD Columbus Day Golf Outing
Henderson, Inc. recently sponsored a foursome in the Hampton Roads Sanitation District’s (HRSD) 27th Annual Columbus Day Golf Outing, which was held on Monday, October 8th.
The tournament was held at the Cypress Creek Golfer’s Club in Smithfield, Va. Henderson’s foursome was made up of Site Estimator Peter Henderson, C.F.O. Jake Liebler, Project Superintendent Mac McFerrin and Project Manager Brian Schultz.
Colonial Heritage Community Foundation 1st Annual Charity Golf Classic
Henderson, Inc. was a hole sponsor and sponsored two foursomes at the Colonial Heritage Community Foundation’s (CHFC) 1st Annual Charity Golf Classic, which was held on Friday, September 14th.
Henderson’s two foursomes included: IT Manager Bryan Walls, Project Superintendents Tommy Warren, Frank Hudik, Mac McFerrin, and Steve Montgomery, Field Personnel Ryan Bowden, and Mark Layne, and a subcontractor, Greg Abel.
MEGAvention 2012
Henderson, Inc. was a Gold Sponsor at this year’s MEGAvention 2012. MEGAvention was held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on August 15 -16th and co-chaired by Ellen Sanders, Henderson, Inc.’s Director of Business Development.
The event kicked off with a golf tournament in which the Henderson, Inc. foursome took first place in the second flight. The tournament was followed by a reception at the Princess Anne Country Club and then a cocktail party at the Hilton Sky Bar, sponsored by Henderson, Inc.
Henderson presents at DBIA June meeting
Henderson President Bill Strack, along with Guernsey Tingle Architects (GTA) President Tom Tingle, AIA, and Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) Director of Engineering Bruce Husselbee, P.E., gave a presentation on the recently completed HRSD North Shore Maintenance Facility project at the June DBIA meeting on Tuesday, June 26 in Virginia Beach.
HRACRE 20th Annual Golf Outing
Henderson, Inc. was a Gold Sponsor of HRACRE’s Golf Outing at Williamsburg National Golf Course on Thursday, June 14. Henderson also sponsored a beverage cart at the tournament.
Henderson’s foursome, including Vice President Mike Van Sickel, shot a score of 57 (-15) and tied for first place in their flight. After matching up the scorecards Henderson’s team ended up third in the four-man captain’s choice format tournament.
Busch Gardens Open Haus
Busch Gardens hosted an Open Haus on May 23rd for Henderson and all of our subcontrators that worked on the park’s newest roller coaster, Verbolten. The Open Haus allowed everyone to bring a guest and ride Verbolten and Mach Tower, play games, and enjoy a complimentary dinner at Festhaus!
Henderson, combined with our subcontractors and guests, had approximately 600 people come out and enjoy the evening in the park. Everyone had a great time enjoying these two attractions on which Henderson was the general contractor.
