Williamsburg Landing Renovation Team Appreciation Lunch
Henderson hosted a Team Appreciation Lunch at Williamsburg Landing on April 13th for everyone on the Williamsburg Landing Renovation project. We had over 100 people attend and the lunch was held to express our appreciation of everyone’s dedication on this project.
Henderson Celebrates 55 Years
Saturday, March 24, 2012 marked the 55th anniversary of Dave and Shirley Henderson founding Henderson, Inc. We chose to celebrate this milestone at our quarterly company meeting with all employees present. Vice President Leslie H. Schultz spoke about how Henderson has evolved over the years and her vision for our future.
Easter Bunny Visits Henderson
The Easter Bunny made a surprise appearance at Henderson's quarterly company meeting on Thursday, March 29, 2012. The Bunny handed out Easter eggs filled with treats and posed for pictures with employees. A big thank you goes out to the Easter Bunny for stopping by and spreading some Spring cheer!
Leslie H. Schultz Speaks at Career Night
Vice President Leslie H. Schultz spoke at Christchurch School’s Career Night event on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. Christchurch is a private boarding school located in Christchurch, Virginia where Henderson, Inc. has performed many projects. The school also has ties to the Henderson family.
Leslie spoke to a group of approximately 80 students about careers in the construction industry. She detailed the suggested education, career paths, and possible hurdles within the field. She also spoke about the path she took and her personal experiences as a construction industry professional.
Busch Gardens 2012 Expansion Team Appreciation Lunch
Henderson hosted a Team Appreciation Lunch at Busch Gardens on March 1st in the Black Forrest for everyone on the new Verbolten roller coaster project. We had over 200 people attend and this lunch was held to express our appreciation of everyone’s dedication on this project.
Project Superintendent Matt Hipple spoke to the group before the lunch expressing his respect and gratitude toward the entire team for their outstanding job working together and working hard on the project.
Henderson Participates in Elementary School Career Fair
Henderson participated in Clara Byrd Baker Elementary School’s Career Fair for fourth and fifth graders on Monday, January 30th. Vice President Mike Van Sickel and Marketing Coordinator Laura Coletrane spoke to approximately 200 students about careers in the construction industry and the education required. They also spoke to the students about school subjects like math, science, language arts, technology, and art that were important in the industry. The students all talked about their favorite subjects and how they personally could get involved in construction.
R.F. Wilkinson YMCA 10th Annual Festival of the Trees
Henderson, Inc. was proud to be a gold sponsor of the R.F. Wilkinson YMCA’s 10th Annual Festival of the Trees on Friday, December 2, 2011. The event was held at the William and Mary Alumni House and included both a silent and live auction. This year they raised $27,000 with proceeds benefiting the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign which provides scholarships to families in the YMCA’s programs. The Festival of the Trees was very well attended and a great time was had by all.
"The Households at Sanders" Groundbreaking
Henderson, Inc., in partnership with Zandler Development Co., LLC, was pleased to take part in the groundbreaking of Riverside’s “The Households at Sanders” in Gloucester, VA on November 15th. “The Households at Sanders” consists of two freestanding households — one to provide long-term nursing care and one to provide short-term rehabilitation. Designed like traditional homes, the households will boast private bedrooms and bathrooms, comfortable dining and living areas, and a resident-friendly kitchen that will serve as the heart of the home.
Henderson Attends Oktoberfest
In support of long time Henderson client Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Henderson employees attended the Greater Williamsburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance’s 2011 Oktoberfest event at the park on October 27th.
Along with food, games, and entertainment, attendees enjoyed two Henderson built attractions, Curse of DarKastle and Henderson’s most recent Busch Gardens project, Mach Tower.
HRSD North Shore Maintenance Center Team Lunch
Henderson hosted a Team Lunch at the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) North Shore Maintenance Center project site in Newport News, Va. This well attended lunch was held to express our appreciation of everyone’s dedication on this project.
Project Superintendent Mac McFerrin spoke to the group before the lunch expressing his respect and gratitude toward the entire team for working hard and delivering quality work well ahead of schedule.
